New Delhi, Aug 13, 2025 — The Supreme Court today heard petitions challenging the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls.

The Court noted that voters can now submit any one of 11 approved documents, stressing inclusivity, but maintained Aadhaar is not proof of citizenship. The Election Commission assured that no voter will be removed without notice and that those on the 2003 roll — and their children — need no extra documents.

Opposition uproar over the issue disrupted the Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, a clerical error listing a 35 Year-old woman as 124 years old sparked accuracy concerns. The Court said it can cancel the entire SIR if major irregularities are proven.
