The Indian box office is gearing up for one of its biggest cinematic clashes of the year as Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ and Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’ prepare to hit theatres over the Independence Day weekend.


‘Coolie’ has already taken a commanding lead in the advance booking race, with overseas pre-sales nearing ₹30 crore gross and strong domestic ticket sales. The Rajinikanth starrer is witnessing massive demand in both India and the USA, cementing its position as the hot favourite ahead of release.


Meanwhile, ‘War 2’, a high-octane spy thriller from the YRF Spy Universe, is also generating significant buzz. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the film’s advance bookings in North America are showing promising trends. Domestic bookings for ‘War 2’ are set to open this Sunday, and industry insiders expect a surge once tickets go live.


Both films, backed by star power, big budgets, and nationwide hype, are aiming for record-breaking numbers during the extended holiday weekend. While ‘Coolie’ has the early edge, the true winner will be decided once audiences flock to cinemas starting Independence Day.


Film trade analysts are calling this “a clash for the ages”, with fans eagerly awaiting to see who comes out on top — the legendary Superstar Rajinikanth or the dynamic duo of Hrithik

 and Jr NTR.
